“I ask you right here please to agree with me that a scar is never ugly. We must see all scars as beauty. Because take it from me, a scar does not form on the dying.
A scar means, I survived . . .”
~ Little Bee by Chris Cleave
It has been a while since I have shared pictures of Mason’s healing scars. When I came across the above quote today I knew it was something I wanted to remember. It seems fitting to add it to this post. As you can see from the picture above Mason’s back is healing. This post has pictures from before and just after surgery. You can also get a peek at his chubby thighs! This picture was also taken today during one of his tummy times and shows the scar on his head where the shunt was placed. Eventually he’ll grow enough hair to cover it but for now it is just really light fuzz.
He is so precious, Tristan!
ReplyDeleteHe's just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing Mason grow. He's so darling. I'm glad you share him with us. :D
ReplyDeleteAnother good one about "Scars are Beautiful" is by Paul Brandt. Here's the youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWzsUZXbPCE or the lyrics: http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/brandt-paul/scars-are-beautiful-23357.html
ReplyDeleteHello ! I stummbled upon your blog while doing Spina Bifida research for my Child Development class. What a fantastic resource your blog has made ! It is so important to be documenting all of Mason's paths, not only for your own sanity, but for the wealth of information you are providing for doctors, other parents, or college students (like me). He is just so precious, and I wish him to grow up big and strong ! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful. Scars add character.
